OUR HISTORY

Three Generations of Educators

Chuck Stilwell founded Stilwell’s Learning Centers in Sierra Vista, AZ, in 1980. With a steadfast belief that any child can reach their potential with proper training and diligence. Children attending Stilwell’s Learning Centers often experience 2-4 grade levels of advancement in less than 9 months of tutoring.

In January 2021, Ashley Richards, the granddaughter of founder Chuck Stilwell joined SLC to expand the family business. She managed and tutored at the Hereford location, continuing to inspire and support her students every day. In 2024, Ashley became the owner of the SLC where she continues to work with her students and staff.

Together, Ashley and Chuck continue to uphold the legacy of Stilwell's Learning Center LLC, dedicated to transforming lives through education and helping every student succeed.

Ashley Richards

Ashley Richards, Granddaughter of Chuck Stilwell, always knew she was going to be an educator. Whether a teacher, tutor, or entrepreneur, there are ways to learn in all things.

Ashley began tutoring with Stilwell’s Learning Centers (SLC) when she was just 16 years old, having graduated early after going through the SLC program herself.

After moving back from Catalina Island in January 2021, Ashley began working with Chuck again at SLC to expand and generate more business. She managed and tutored at the Hereford location until January 2024. Ashley is now the owner of SLC where she works with her staff and students

Ashley continues her education in lifelong learning from Chuck, through Cochise College classes, and BNI.

His activities beyond the Learning Centers include church activities, speaking to groups, writing stories from his life’s experiences and reading. He is working on developing a coffee shop and book nook in Hereford, AZ.

Chuck loves life. His passion is to rescue children from mediocrity so as to reach their full potential. In his retirement, Chuck is enjoying writing, publishing books and focusing on family!
